Kickstarter for cool anthology: My Peculiar Family Volume II
Do you like story collections by new writers, who take a theme and run with it?
Check out this great project- and if you've got a buck or two, consider kicking in to make this happen.
Kickstarter link
For a few bucks more, you get terrific rewards! And be a part of something great!
Since I have a story in this collection, I'm supporting it by giving away five books (your choice),
and there are plenty more things for donors, including original artwork!
My Peculiar Family Volume II – Celebrations is the second anthology of unusual original tales!
This volume combines well-known and emerging writers, who have been on Sci Fi Saturday Night and unites them, writing together in a shared universe to discover the fictional lost family of Chyna Dale.
When she discovers a box of old tintype photos in her attic, her quest becomes finding out who they are. Each picture features a mysterious portrait of a single person. Who are these people? What are their stories? What makes them so…peculiar?
Each author had to answer these questions in their unique tale. All of the authors received one of Chyna Dale’s tintypes, a name for the photographed person, and a celebration of some sort.
Some of the stories are more on the horror side, some more paranormal, some science-fiction/fantasy, but all are linked together by Chyna Dale’s family.
Come join us on this second journey into the dark history of the Dimsdale Family.

The Big Time
Great news today- I'm featured on the prominent website of Joe Konrath, one of the gurus of self-publishing. I've got a co-written guest post with Vlad V. and we discuss how to give your way to success as an Indie writer. Check it out, and feel free to leave a comment. Oh yeah- there's some special deals for you for checking it out...
This is The Big Time- like getting an at-bat in the Major Leagues. And we knocked it out of the park.
We've got some excellent comments already, and people have found value in our message. The idea of joyous cooperation and collaboration, rather than fearful competition (fostered by Big Traditional Publishing) is resonating with more and more people.
Everybody does better when everybody does better (saying of Jim Hightower)
We've got a lot of people we work with. Folks like Chris Obert of Pear Tree Publishing, who puts together author signings and the New England Author's Expo. The owners of Books and Boos bookstore in CT, where they host author signings and include them at their showcase table at conventions. The New England Horror Writers. The Sisters in Crime. Librarians. Reviewers. Independent bookstore workers.
It's a great New World of Publishing, and savvy writers are working together to make things better for everyone. Viva La Revolution!

Major League Time
Awesome news to report today-- been sworn to secrecy until now, per request.
Not easy when you're jumping for joy.
Coming up next month is Bouchercon-- the world’s leading convention for crime fiction readers and writers. The top pros in the industry go there-- all your favorite writers in the genre.
The big names, the ones spoken with hushed reverence. New York Times Best-Seller listers.
You know, those folk on Olympus...
Not only will I be hanging out with them-- I'll be on one of the Author Panels!
It's like being a Double-A ball player being called up to the Majors. Show us what you got, kid.
And though I want to knock that sucker out of the park, I'll settle for a respectable double.
My panel moderator is Toni Kelner, for which I'm grateful-- I've met her at the Crime Bake conventions, and she's smart, funny, and has written a couple of popular mystery series, award-winning stories, and edited some terrific collections.
Joining us will be Amin Ahmad, Daniel Friedman, Michael Kardos, and Julie Pomeroy.
You can bet I'll be checking out their work.
We'll be talking about pacing in crime fiction, and the panel is scheduled for Friday at 12:30-1:25PM.
Wish me luck!
